Erol Alkan, for instance, is now renowned for dropping a beefed up version of The Eurythmics' 'Sweet Dreams' into his magnificent sets, alongside all those contemporary bangers. Similarly, IntoTheFray somehow manage to neatly mesh Anita Ward's 1979 hit 'Ring My Bell' into their

The latest offering from the Gold brothers is IntoTheFray's greatest yet. Known as Park Ranger and Solid Gold, they are, in fact, only two fifths of IntoTheFray, and yet have delivered a very polished production indeed. For me, it's the choice and diversity of tunes that make this so delicious. And, baring in mind what a mixed bag this is, it all fits together suprisingly well. They chuck in a bit of everything: some wonderfully cheesy electro-house (Puzique), hip-hop, bootlegs, wonky basslines, speed garage, indie-electro, retro disco, crunky bass and 'fidget' house:

The inclusion of Let's Get Physical is such a treat - an underrated track from that thoroughly indified electro-duo, The Black Ghosts. Fake Blood seems to turn everything he touches to gold these days, and its nice to see this complete reworking of UNKLE's previously rather boring 'Restless'. Hercules And The Love Affair offer up a camp, truly vintage sound, thats sounds right out of the 70s, and has been receiving alot of radio coverage. A1 Bassline's remix is another sound addition to his ever-increasing list of filthy nichey remixes. Hijack seems to gets alot of attention from the Gold brothers, and is, incidentally, playing at their next Game Over night in October alongside Andy George and Foamo. Should be an outstanding night.

Well, you've gotta have some kind of continuity in a set. And my point is that this balances continuity and diversity. Multiplicity easily results in discontinuity. This mix manages to balance them both - if they chucked in every genre it simply wouldn't work as a whole.

Look, yes, of course I've heard diplo's essential mix and it's definitely not my thing. I didnt like it. As i've said already i like some kind of continuity in a mix: for common themes to run through it. i like this 'cos its more diverse than alot of the humdrum out there at the mo. its diverse within it's given genre i.e. electro.
Also Diplo's mix was done on a laptop. its much easier to get it all to fit together nicely when u have your mouse continually hovering over the 'sync' button...

Most people DO appreciate it. Have u been living under a stone for the last two years... blogs are a form of promotion and help get the word around about small & up-and-coming artists. Alot of artists send me tracks asking for me to blog them. Many extremely talented artists such as Stereoheroes have no record deal and achieve recognition through the blog world. When i 1st blogged them they didnt have a record deal, their popularity has now spread via word-of-blog and they now have a record deal. (and they are still willing to send me tracks of theirs). The majority of these artists dont make their profit from selling singles (u dont see them in the charts), but from playing dj sets and live gigs...and how do people find out bout these new artists and their tunes...? how does the word spread...? Blogging. (And I have obliged to anyone who has asked for their tracks to be removed). Now please take ur negativity and ur immature jokes, that seem to revolve around ass fingering, somewhere else.

If you only posted tracks by people who sent you tunes your blog would be empty. Let's be honest most producers you're blogging don't really benefit from exposure. I came on the blog to download the set we are talking about here.
The disclaimer thing is wack as well. As if producers have time to track down every blog giving away thier tracks for free and request them to be taken down. It's laughable.
Blogs that post tracks you can listen to are cool but ones that offer 100s of tracks for free to download at 320kbps that are commercial releases are screwing people who stump up cash for vinyl and proper mp3s as well as artists themselves. Don't front like you're doing something righteous. Ask Duke Dumont.
why are you getting at this blog in particular? I bet all the tracks here came off Hypem.com in the first place. I use all the blogs and they all do the same as this one, except here there are comprehensive reviews and interesting writing.

It's bollocks, posting up tunes like DVNO isn't championing new music. It's just giving away music for free and takes the piss out of DJs and music heads that shell out thier cash on records.

Yes, your right i suppose - 'bout Justice. I shouldn't have posted the original of DVNO, tho the remixes i will not apologise for; especially since LA riots gave out their original demo copy on the net anyway before it was snapped up by Ed Banger.
Remixes aren't money-making entities. And yes we all know about Duke Dumont's notorious opinions on sharing music.
When I started this blog, I never intended to post commercially successful original material. I admittedly - and regrettably - posted DVNO as a shameless attempt to gain more web hits (Justice are, after all, the most searched on hypem - so i knew i'd get ALOT of hits). Though i now have regular readers so don't need to. I'm now sent quite alot of tracks (tho only a few are any gd at the mo) and often email people before posting (e.g. I emailed Pirate Soundsystem asking if i could post the Wiley remix which they said i couldn't, but they're happy with any other tracks).
And NO, you are on another planet if you think DJ's pay for all their music. (Oh and EVERYONE here are huge music fans and therefore buy the CD's they NEED in their collection.)
