40 seconds to comply...

A new russian brand of fizzing, teched-out electro noise is being pumped from Moscow's very own dancefloor destroyer, Proxy. Tiga's Turbo Recordings are home to Proxy's sound: all dark, gnarled distortion layered alongside the echoing of booming simple-but-effective 4X4 beats. I recently posted five of his superb tracks, while praising his astounding live set at Gatecrasher. 'Dance In The Dark' and 'Decoy' now deserve classic dancefloor status, for their pure magnitude and weighty dirtiness. Since then Proxy has been busying himself producing yet more of his trademark unclean sound.

A strangely grimey feel echoes amid the grinding beats, beefy basslines and clanging drum patterns. These tracks are hefty slabs of electro-tech, whacking you across the face and forcing you to really push off and stomp the ground. A both menacing and gritty edge give Proxy's tunes a roaring, epic feel.
Proxy's bulky banger 'Raven' has been a staple of Erol's sets for a couple of months now, and a half decent copy is keeping our appetites just about staisfied. This will have to keep us occupied while we wait with baited breath for Proxy's remix of Digitalism's 'Home Zone'. The DJ Cheery Cola of Raven version seems to be the best edit around:

As many have pointed out, Proxy's remix of Moby is effectively just a 'Raven' makeover; the track 'Raven' just layered under Moby vocal-based tune. That said, it still makes for a destructive, noisy banger; unleashing that pent-up wobbling and rasping bass. And there's no doubting it works real well:

40 Seconds is a "scathing indictment of police brutality and government corruption". Apparently. More importantly: it's a heavy, heavy banger. A booming stomper of a tune:
